FALL 2023 SEASON FAQs
**REGISTRATION OPEN THURSDAY, JUNE 15th THROUGH SUNDAY, JULY 16th - NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE PERMITTED AFTER THIS TIME**
When will the season start?
Practices will begin the last week of July, with games beginning the week of August 21st.
How long will the season last?
The season will run through end of October. There will not be games held during the week of WCS Fall Break.
How many practices will be held a week?
Before games begin, and pending field availability, each team will be given the option to practice twice a week. One practice will be on a weeknight and the other one will be on a Saturday or Sunday. Once games begin, practices will only be held once per week. Practice days are selected by the head coach, after teams are formed.
How many games will there be per week?
There will be one game per week for fall season. All ages will play one weeknight game. Weeknight games are subject to change, based upon total number of teams. Traditionally, games are scheduled as follows:
Mondays - 13U and 6U
Tuesdays - 8U
Thursdays - 10U
How much does it cost to play?
$145 for 6U; $155 for 8U, 10U and 13U
What do the fees go toward?
Uniforms, insurance, umpires, county fees, field maintenance/labor, equipment, awards, etc.
How are coaches chosen?
Coaches must fill out an application online (see volunteer tab for further instructions). The board will then select coaches based on prior experience and needs. All coaches will undergo NAYS certification, as well as background checks.
How are teams selected?
The softball board attempts to honor all requests to play for a certain team/coach. We also try and keep the same teams together each season. While we do make the attempt, requests are not guaranteed. Team/coach requests may be submitted during your registration process.
When will the teams be picked?
Teams will be assigned by July 25th.
At what age do kids start pitching?
Kid pitch begins in 10U. 6U is a combination of coach pitch/tee and 8U is coach pitch only.
Within what age group should my child play?
The age your child was as of August 31st, 2023 should be used in determining the division in which they should play. The online registration will automatically assign your child to the correct age division. No one is permitted to "play down," but you may opt for your child to "play up" should they desire a more competitive level. In order to play in an older age division, you will need to notate this request on your registration.
Where are the practices held?
All practices will be held at Nolensville Park field #1 or the old rec field behind the historic school next to the rec center.
Where are the games played?
Games are played throughout the county. Games are spread out between Nolensville Park, Fly Park, Bethesda Park, College Grove Park, Brentwood Civilian Park, Franklin Softball Fields (behind Franklin High) and Grassland Park.
Directions to most fields can be found here: DIRECTIONS TO FIELDS
Are practices and games held on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s?
Regular season games are typically not scheduled on Wednesdays or Sundays. Rainout games may be made up on these days as needed. Practices, however, may need to be scheduled on these days due to limited field space.
What equipment does my child need?
Your child will need to have a glove, cleats, bat, batting helmet (with facemask) and a fielders mask. All of this can be purchased used from Play It Again Sports, or new from Dick's Sporting Goods (see coupon tab), Academy Sports, Target, Walmart, etc. The league will provide each player with a uniform top and socks. The league will also provide each head coach with team equipment.
