FALL SEASON FAQs

When will the season start?

Practices will begin the third week of July and games will begin the last week of August.

How long will the season last?

The season will run through mid-October. Pending no weather delays/rain-outs, season should conclude prior to WCS Fall Break.

How many practices will be held a week?

Before games begin, each team will practice twice a week. One practice will be on a weeknight and the other one will be on a Saturday or Sunday. Once games begin, practices will only be held once per week.

How many games will there be per week?

There will be one game per week for fall season. All games are held during the week.

Mondays - 12U
Tuesdays - 8U and 10U A
Thursdays - 6U and 10U B

How much does it cost to play?

$125

What do the fees go toward?

Uniforms, insurance, umpires, county fees, field maintenance, equipment and chalk and coaching certifications/background checks

How are coaches chosen?

Coaches must fill out an application online (see volunteer tab for further instructions). The board will then select coaches based on prior experience and needs. All coaches will undergo NAYS certification, as well as background checks.

How are teams selected?

The softball board attempts to honor all requests to play for a certain team/coach. We also try and keep the same teams together each season. While we do make the attempt, requests are not guaranteed. Team/coach requests may be submitted during your registration process.

When will the teams be picked?

Teams will be assigned by July 19th

At what age do kids start pitching?

Kid pitch begins in 10U. There is an A and a B league for this age group. 6U is a combination of coach pitch/tee and 8U is coach pitch only.

Within what age group should my child play?

The age of your child as of August 31st, 2019 should be used in determining the division in which they should play. The online registration will automatically assign your child to the correct age division. No one is permitted to "play down," but you may opt for your child to "play up" should they desire a more competitive level. In order to play in an older age division, you will need to notate this request on your registration. Max DOB for fall season is 9/1/2006.

Where are the practices held?

All practices will be held at Nolensville Park.

Where are the games played?

Games are played throughout the county.  Games are spread out between Nolensville Park, Fly Park, Bethesda Park, College Grove Park, Brentwood Civilian Park, Franklin Softball Fields (behind Franklin High) and Grassland Park.

Directions to most fields can be found here: DIRECTIONS TO FIELDS

Are practices and games held on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s?

Regular season games are typically not scheduled on Wednesdays or Sundays.  However, rainout games may be made up on these days as needed. Practices, however, may need to be scheduled on these days due to limited field space.

What equipment does my child need?

Your child will need to have a glove, cleats, bat, batting helmet (with facemask) and a fielders mask.  All of this can be purchased used from Play It Again Sports, or new from Dick's Sporting Goods (see coupon tab), Academy Sports, Target, Walmart, etc. The league will provide each player with a uniform and socks. The league will also provide each head coach with team equipment to include catcher's gear, tee, hit stick, game balls, practice balls, etc.
