About our program

Welcome to Nolensville Sideline Cheerleading – 2025 Season!

We’re excited to continue building the Nolensville Cheerleading program, offering a no-cut, all-inclusive experience for athletes ages 5–12. Our program welcomes all skill levels and focuses on teamwork, spirit, and building confidence while cheering on our local S.T.A.R.S. football teams.

Registration opens May 1, 2025, and will close on May 14, 2025.

Spots are limited, and once they are filled, remaining participants will be waitlisted and notified if space becomes available.
mandatory uniform fitting will take place on May 17 from 9-11am, and all cheerleaders must attend, as uniform sizing varies.

The registration fee is $225 and includes a full uniform package (shell, skirt, bow, bloomers, and pompoms) that cheerleaders will keep at the end of the season, along with a practice T-shirt, participant insurance, access to practice facilities, and an end-of-season award.

Additional required items (not provided) include a solid white long-sleeve undershirt, solid white cheer shoes, and solid black bottoms for practice. Optional warm-up jackets will be available for separate purchase.

Squads will be formed based on age divisions, following school-grade alignment:

Pixies: (K-1st Grade)  Born in 2018-2020
(must be 5 years old by August 15, 2025, per WCS guidelines)

Minis: (2nd-3rd Grade) Born in 2016-2018

Juniors: (4th-5th Grade) Born in 2014-2016

JV Silver:  Born in 2013-2014

While we always try to accommodate family connections, we cannot guarantee that cheerleaders will be placed with a specific football team, as rosters are finalized after our registration period. However, cheerleaders will be assigned to teams that align as closely as possible with their age group.

The cheer season runs from July through October and spans approximately nine weeks, including one scheduled bye week.

Practices will begin the week of July 7 and continue throughout the season. All practices will take place at Nolensville Park, with specific days and times communicated by coaches once squads are formed. Coaches determine the day/time for their practice. We will place squads once we know coaches availability.

Practices will be scheduled for one hour, once a week. During registration, you will have the opportunity to notify us of any scheduling conflicts. While we will make every effort to accommodate these, please note that we cannot guarantee specific practice days or times so please be flexible with your availability.

The first game is currently scheduled for August 23, though this date is subject to change. We will not have the full season schedule until the first week of games.

Cheerleaders will participate in home games only and will not attend jamborees, away games, or playoff events unless they are hosted at Nolensville fields.

Team photo dates and other updates will be shared as the season approaches.

Please note that registration fees are non-refundable. If late registrations are accommodated, a $50 late fee may apply.

We can’t wait for another amazing season of Nolensville Youth Cheerleading! 🎉

Board Member Roles

Board Member Expectations

Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings (either in person or virtual), maintain open and responsive communication with fellow board members and cheer families, support game-day needs, and assist with event coordination and coach support throughout the season. Collaboration is key to ensuring a positive and well-organized cheer experience for all involved.

Cheer Director (Kelsey Galkus)

The Cheer Director oversees the entire cheer program, acting as the primary liaison between the cheer program and the athletic board/league. This role includes working closely with the S.T.A.R.S. Board of Directors to align cheer schedules with football game days and times, and communicating any changes or delays. The Cheer Director sets the vision and direction for the program, provides leadership to board members and coaches, and ensures adherence to program policies and expectations, including conflict resolution.

Assistant Cheer Director (open)

The Assistant Cheer Director supports the Cheer Director in all areas, stepping up to take the lead when the Cheer Director is unavailable. Responsibilities also include assisting with coach communication, scheduling, and game-day logistics, as well as helping plan and coordinate program-wide events and initiatives.

Secretary/Treasurer (open)

The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for maintaining both the organizational and financial records of the cheer program. This role includes tracking and documenting meeting minutes, rosters, and board communications, as well as managing the program’s finances. Key duties include sending out program-wide emails and updates, scheduling support, maintaining financial transparency, tracking budgets, processing payments, and keeping detailed records of fundraisers, uniforms, and events. This position works closely with NYA league officials and any affiliated treasurer or CPA to ensure accurate and accountable record-keeping across all areas.

Coach/Cheer Coordinator (Lindsay Maugans)

The Coach/Cheer Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for all cheer coaches. This role involves providing support to coaches with practice ideas, cheer material, and game-day guidance, coordinating coach meetings and training sessions, and ensuring consistency across squads in motions, chants, and sideline performances. Additionally, this role is responsible for distributing and collecting all cheer equipment loaned to each squad at the beginning and end of each season, ensuring that all items are properly accounted for and returned in good condition.

Uniform/Apparel Coordinator (Leanna Dever)

The Uniform & Apparel Coordinator handles the ordering, distribution, and inventory of uniforms and cheer gear, ensuring correct sizing and timely delivery. This role also manages any reorders or exchanges and oversees spirit wear sales, working directly with our online store vendor to update styles, manage the program’s revenue percentage, and ensure proper tracking and sending of revenue.

Special Events /Sponsorship Coordinator (Lindsay Kovach)

The Special Events Coordinator plans and organizes key events, such as assisting the Coach Coordinator with the mini pep rally. This role also coordinates community involvement by working with the Nolensville Towns Committee for parade participation in local events like the Veterans Day and Holiday Parades. Additionally, the Special Events Coordinator builds relationships with local businesses to secure banner sponsors and manages sponsor recognition efforts throughout the season.

Social Media /Communications Coordinator (open)

The Social Media & Communications Coordinator is responsible for promoting the cheer program through engaging and informative content across all social media platforms. This role manages the social media accounts through announcements, event promotion and team highlights to ensure strong program visibility. Responsibilities include updating followers on key dates, celebrating cheer moments throughout the season and working with other board members to ensure timely and consistent messaging. Basic graphic design or content planning experience is a plus but not required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included with registration?

Each cheerleader receives a complete uniform package, which includes:

  • Shell (top)

  • Skirt

  • Bloomers

  • Bow

  • Pompoms

All uniform items are yours to keep at the end of the season!

What’s the cost to register?

The registration fee is $230, which covers the full uniform package and participation in the entire season.
This fee helps cover uniforms, bows, pompoms, insurance, and program costs.

Who do we cheer for?

Our cheerleaders proudly support the Nolensville Stars Tackle Football teams throughout the fall season.
You’ll find our squads cheering on multiple age divisions each Saturday at Nolensville Park, filling the sidelines with energy, smiles, and community spirit!

Can my 6-year-old cheer for her 12-year-old brother’s team?

Unfortunately, no. Cheerleaders are placed with football teams that match their own age group.
We do this for several reasons — the most important being safety. As football players get older, games become more intense and physical. Keeping cheerleaders with similarly aged teams ensures a fun, age-appropriate, and safe game-day experience for everyone.

What ages can participate?

Our program is open to athletes ages 5–12 (Kindergarten through 6th grade).
We offer age-based squads:

  • Pixies – Kindergarten & 1st Grade

  • Minis – 2nd & 3rd Grade

  • Juniors – 4th–6th Grade

When are practices and games?

  • Practices: Held once per week, typically at Nolensville Park, beginning in July.

  • Games: Take place on Saturdays, beginning in mid-August and running through mid-October.

Please note: Game times are set by the football league and often aren’t finalized until the Thursday before each game.
Traditionally, Pixies cheer in the mornings, Minis mid-morning, and Juniors in the afternoons.

When will we know the full schedule?

The STARS Tackle Football schedule is set by TYSA (Tennessee Youth Sports Alliance) at TYSA.com
We typically do not receive the official schedule until the week of the first scheduled game.
In the past, the full schedule has not been released until the second week of the season.

Please keep in mind that we are not in control of setting the schedule. As much as we would love to provide it early, our hands are tied.
We truly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work within the league’s timeline!

Is there a refund policy?

Because uniforms are custom-ordered for each cheerleader, registration fees are non-refundable once uniforms have been ordered.

Do parents need to volunteer?

Our program thrives because of amazing parent support!
We ask that families consider helping with small volunteer opportunities during the season — such as team snacks, photos, or spirit events. Volunteering is not mandatory, but always appreciated!

Do cheerleaders perform at halftime?

Yes! Each squad learns a fun halftime routine during practices. They’ll perform it several times throughout the season to showcase their hard work and spirit.

What if my child has never cheered before?

No experience is necessary!
Our program welcomes all skill levels. We focus on teamwork, confidence-building, and having fun while learning cheers, chants, and basic cheer motions.
